Picture a suburban landscape, white picket fences, SUV’s, Starbucks and community sports centers. Now picture a Sunday morning with nice people going to a nice church where every subject is preached except Christ!
Living in utter convenience and being surrounded by hi-tech stimulations is eroding our ability to focus attention on the “unexciting”. No longer being prepared to wrestle with issues, most demand immediate resolution.
The modern usage of the term “fundamentalist” tends to describes one who vehemently adheres to a position without adequate substantiation; and polemically defends it while ignoring all contrary evidence. E.g. “angry” atheist fundamentalists.
Where’s the voice of sanity and reason in this fallen world of perpetual fear and loathing; where much of the church is found fueling the fire with accusation and legalistic, fear ladened “piety”?
Although the Bible is our objective authority on absolute truth, it isn’t the only source. Discerning truth is a lifelong challenge; a multifaceted discipline that requires tenacity, humility and the indwelt Holy Spirit.
