Job 2: Unhelpful wife, loathsome sores & silent friends

Satan gets permission to afflict Job with loathsome sores whereupon his wife advises him; “curse God and die”.  Job’s three friends; Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar sit in silence with Job for 7 days.

The road to nowhere

We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means an about-turn and walking back to the right road. The one who turns back soonest is the most progressive. (C.S. Lewis)

Genesis 2: Holy rest and the genesis of man

God rested on the Holy seventh day. Formed from dust and given “breath of life”, Adam named all creatures and had dominion. God prohibited one tree and formed a helper from Adams rib.

What if God were in the minutia?

What if God determined the exact trajectory of every, seemingly random, quantum-mechanical subatomic event that dynamically grew into the mighty mega movements of the very planets and stars themselves? How utterly sovereign!

Romans 1: Gospel vs. sin and idolatry

Paul’s inspired short summation of the gospel and travel plans are followed by a tirade of condemnation for mans unrighteousness, his suppression of the truth and his incessant propensity towards sin and idolatry.

Holy joy, tranquil conscience

Many factors affect the onset of a holy joy in our hearts. However, to care for neither praise nor blame and the attainment of the means to nurture a tranquil conscience are essential.

Matthew 1: Genealogy and fulfilled prophesy

The 42 generations from Abraham to Christ reveal several notable characters including; Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and the kings of Judah. Lowly Mary becomes pregnant and an angel confirms the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14.

A perspective on miracles

Miracles weren’t unnatural, they offered glimpses of truer reality. “Jesus’ healings weren’t supernatural miracles in a natural world.  They’re the only truly ‘natural’ things in a world that is unnatural, demonized and wounded.” (Jurgen Moltmann)

Isaiah 1: Israel accused in God’s court

The heavenly hosts hold court over the woeful condition of Israel where only the faithful remnant prevents utter destruction.  God calls for reason and repentance that, it seems, can only come through Christ.

This site is now “up and running”

I managed to get around to transferring all my “33 words” post from my other blog sites so I think just about everything is here now.  I will try to post daily in both the “Musings 33″ and the “Bible 33″ categories.  The “bible 33 idea is new so it will take a while for me to develop the content, but I will endeavor to write as much up as I can initially to get things moving.

I think the “Bible 33″ idea will be a useful way to remember chapters in the Bible both for myself and hopefully others.  I guess time will tell.

God Bless
